The late Jack Gartside was a fan of nutria (AKA Coypu). He says the underfur makes a good dubbing and the guard hairs can used as tails on mayfly dries. The two patterns listed in his "Fly Patterns for the Adventurous Tyer" use strips cut from the hide and wrapped around the hook shaft. I just received my order of Nutria and it is beautiful.
